The report, “A Plan for Expanding Sustainable Community Health Centers in New York,” is a first-ever plan for building the State’s community health center system, and offers recommendations for health centers to increase their ability to serve hundreds of thousands more patients each year.

The report projects the gains in capacity that could result from enhancing productivity and improving recruitment and retention of health care providers. Based on extensive quantitative and qualitative analyses, the plan also identifies the geographic areas that have the greatest need and potential for sustainable growth, including “primary care deserts” where there are no federally qualified health centers.
