With support from NYHealth and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the journal Health Affairs is planning a thematic issue for summer 2019 that will focus attention on opportunities and challenges facing the military health system and care for veterans. The issue will promote understanding of the coverage and care systems that serve military personnel and veterans, explore the challenges and unmet needs that they face, and consider opportunities to improve care within these systems. Where appropriate, the editors will look for papers to make connections between the military, veterans’, and civilian sectors, with an emphasis on reciprocal learning.
Health Affairs is inviting interested authors to submit abstracts for consideration for this issue. We encourage you to consider submitting an abstract and to spread the word to your colleagues. Topics and areas of interest include:
• Systems challenges, issues, and opportunities for innovation and improvement;
• Key populations and conditions requiring specialized treatment and programs;
• Promoting and delivering population health and preventive care; and
• Health workforce
