As our nation approaches its 17th year at war, the changes that have occurred both in our country and within the military and veteran communities have been significant.

During this pivotal era of our history—through three presidential administrations, multiple changes in leadership at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and an increasingly chaotic political environment—the face of the military and veteran communities has become increasingly diverse. The number of women and LGBTQ service members is growing, and those who are being deployed today are using new tools of war that may have different psychological effects on veterans than we have seen in past conflicts. Today’s veterans face unique challenges that are different from those of past generations.

In the midst of so much change, what are the most pressing issues the veteran community faces today? How have these changes during the nearly two decades our nation has been at war affected veterans and their health? Who are the innovators working collaboratively to address veterans’ issues?

Please join NYHealth for a conference on veterans’ health, “The Evolving Health Needs of the Post-9/11 Veteran Community,” to explore these issues, as well as promising solutions, with leaders who are focused on addressing the needs of military and veteran communities.
