Close to half of all New Yorkers struggle to pay medical bills, resulting in delayed care or skipped medications.

Low-income communities and communities of color across the State have been particularly hard hit by high health care costs and unfair billing practices. Now more than ever, consumers need and deserve information on health care prices and quality to inform their decision-making. Consumers also need a seat at the table when health policy decisions are being made.

In March 2022, the Community Service Society of New York released results from a statewide survey on health care affordability, conducted by the nonpartisan research firm PerryUndem. The survey highlights New Yorkers’ concerns about the cost of health care, their experiences with unfair billing practices, and their support for a more equitable, accessible, and affordable health care system.

Please join us for an online discussion with Michael Perry, MA, Partner, PerryUndem, and Elisabeth Benjamin, MSPH, JD, Vice President of Health Initiatives, Community Service Society. The panelists will share New Yorkers’ experiences with health care costs, as well as their support for policy reforms that could help bring down medical costs and improve health care access for all communities.

The webinar will feature a short discussion followed by audience Q&A.
