Removing Barriers to Care for People with Physical Disabilities


  • Documented barriers to health care for people with physical disabilities, including provider attitudes and ill-equipped facilities; and
  • Developed A Blueprint for Improving Access to Primary Care for Adults with Physical Disabilities, a step-by-step guide that identifies and outlines five critical elements that primary care providers need to address to reduce barriers to care for people with physical disabilities. The blueprint includes resources for providers, such as sample functional assessments and accessibility surveys, as well as resources for facilities on equipment, tax credits, clinical expertise, patient education, and disability sensitivity and awareness trainings.
