DOWNLOADThis Maxwell School of Syracuse University report, conducted for NYHealth, examines variations within New York State for two expensive conditions: acute myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure.
The report examines the extent to which factors such as length of stay, severity case mix, and hospital characteristics can or cannot explain cost variations. The project team also conducted site visits to selected hospitals in New York State to identify additional causes of variations and action steps that could be taken to reduce unnecessary costs.
