On June 23, 2020, NYHealth hosted a webinar on the impact of COVID-19 on people of color and low-income communities in New York State.

The COVID-19 pandemic both highlights and deepens inequality in societies across the world. This webinar addressed the political, economic, and historical dimensions of zoonotic disease transmission and pandemic response preparedness. Focusing on New York City as a case study, it also explored why people of color and the working class are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Dr. Justin Feldman, Assistant Professor of Population Health at New York University School of Medicine spoke about how entrenched social and economic inequalities translate to increased disparities in COVID-related morbidity and mortality across New York State.
