In 2015, NYHealth launched its Building Healthy Communities priority area, a place-based initiative focused on improving access to healthy, affordable foods and safe places for physical activity in six diverse neighborhoods throughout New York State. Over a 6-year period, NYHealth invested more than $20 million and leveraged an additional $181 million in overall funding for this initiative.

NYHealth recently published two reports assessing the impact and outcomes of Building Healthy Communities—one evaluates the impact of NYHealth’s investment on the communities themselves, and the other assesses the initiative’s design and implementation to inform place-based research and philanthropy.

Please join NYHealth for a webinar discussion on best practices and lessons learned from Building Healthy Communities. Speakers will include evaluators from New York University School of Medicine, technical assistance providers from Healthy Places By Design, and representatives from Create A Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative.

Panelists will share best practices and lessons learned for effective strategies to promote community engagement, healthy eating, and active living.

This 60-minute webinar will feature a short discussion followed by audience Q&A.
