The New York State Wide Senior Action Council is hosting a teach-in webinar for patient advocates on OpenNotes implementation in New York State. The webinar will cover:

  • What is an “open note” and how do they fit into existing electronic health records.
  • What is the 21st Century Cures Act and what types of notes are health care providers required to share with patients under the Act.
  • How improved access to these records can help empower patients to take more control of their health care.
  • How open notes can help patients spot and correct errors in their clinical records.
  • Questions to ask your health care provider about open notes so that you can access your open notes
  • Steps for patients or their family members or representatives to access their electronic health records to see clinical notes and test results.

Speakers include NYHealth Program Officer Ali Foti and OpenNotes Senior Project Manager Deborah Wachenheim.
