In 2011, Brooklyn’s hospital system and health care safety-net providers faced economic failure and risk of closure.
New York State’s Medicaid Redesign Team convened the Brooklyn Work Group in July 2011 to evaluate the hospital system in Brooklyn and make decisions regarding its viability and future. The workgroup set out to provide recommendations that would enhance primary care delivery, minimize unnecessary health care utilization, and reduce provider inefficiency.
To supplement the workgroup’s hospital and research data, NYHealth awarded a grant to Welsh Analytics LLC, an independent consultant, to provide advanced data analysis and expertise for the Brooklyn Work Group.
