This snapshot uses data from a federally-sponsored survey of employers to examine trends in New York’s employer-sponsored insurance market. In addition to tracking premium cost growth over time, this snapshot highlights other factors related to employer-sponsored insurance costs, such as the proportion of the premium paid by the employer and the average plan deductible. As employers look for ways to control health care costs, the number of employer-sponsored plans that require a deductible have increased, and the deductible amount has risen as well.
